Some values overlap. The tile counts them, e.g. 3/9 match.
Same as the answer.
BGGuessr is a Wordle-style guessing game made just for board gamers. Each day (or in Endless mode), you try to guess the secret board game from the BGG top list. Ten guesses. Three colours. One mystery game.
- Type the name of any board game from the chosen pool to make a guess.
- Each property lights up red, yellow, or green.
- On the Year tile, means the answer is newer than your guess; means the answer is older.
- Inside a list tile, entries the answer also has come first and are underlined; the rest are plain.
- Empty data shows “—” and never counts as a match, and neither does “(Uncredited)”.
- You have 10 hearts. Every guess costs one. Guess the game before they run out.
- YEAR
- Year. Year published. Green when identical; otherwise red with an arrow: the answer is newer, the answer is older. Ancient games show as “2200 BC”.
- PLYRS
- Players. Player count range (min–max). Green when identical, yellow when the two ranges overlap.
- EXP.
- Expansions. Whether the game has expansions (Yes / No). Green when it matches the answer.
- MECH
- Mechanics. Game mechanics. Green when both games list exactly the same set, yellow when they share at least one.
- CATS
- Categories. Categories, scored like mechanics: same set is green, any overlap is yellow.
- DSGNR
- Designer. Designers. Same designers is green, a shared designer is yellow.
- ARTIST
- Artist. Artists. Same artists is green, a shared artist is yellow.
- PUB.
- Publisher. Publishers. Green when your guess’s main (first-listed) publisher also published the answer; yellow when any other publisher is shared.
Ranges (players) are yellow whenever they overlap. Lists (mechanics, categories, designers, artists, publishers) are yellow when the guess and the answer share at least one entry, and green only when the sets are the same. Publisher is the exception: it is green as soon as your guess’s main publisher is one of the answer’s publishers.
Once you are down to 5 hearts, two clues unlock. Each can be used once per game, costs one heart, and needs at least two hearts left: a clue can never spend your last one.
- Cover clue shows the answer’s box art, blurred or pixelated.
- Column clue reveals one column of the answer you have not matched yet. It is picked at random and pinned in “Locked clues” above the board.
One puzzle per day, shared with everyone. Each pool (Top 100, Top 500, Top 1000) has its own daily and its own streak. The daily resets at midnight, your local time. Past days can be replayed from the archive without touching your streak.
Unlimited rounds, a new random game from the chosen pool every time.
